Timothy “Tim” Very, longtime drummer for Manchester Orchestra, has died at 42. The band confirmed the news in a statement shared on February 14, describing his death as sudden and expressing shock at the loss of a close friend and bandmate.

Very had been part of the Atlanta-based group since 2011. In their message to fans, the members of Manchester Orchestra said he brought warmth, humor, and a steady presence both onstage and off. They also asked for privacy for his family. No cause of death was disclosed.

Over more than a decade with the band, Timothy Very played on several key releases, including Cope, A Black Mile to the Surface, and The Million Masks of God. His drumming became a defining part of the group’s evolving sound, from heavy guitar-driven tracks to more atmospheric material.

Very is remembered by bandmates as a dedicated musician and a devoted family man. Plans for memorials or tributes have not been announced.
