Olivia Rodrigo has added a piece of rock history to her wardrobe, purchasing the white dress worn by Meg White on the cover of The White Stripes’ 2003 album Elephant.

During an interview published October 7, Rodrigo revealed that she paid $25,600 for the vintage Gunne Sax dress at auction. The garment had originally been estimated to sell for between $4,000 and $6,000.

The dress is instantly recognizable to fans of The White Stripes, appearing alongside Jack White on the cover of one of the band’s most celebrated albums. Elephant includes the Grammy-winning hit Seven Nation Army.

Rodrigo considered wearing the dress at her Daisy Chain Fields music festival in Irvine, California, in August 2026. However, she ultimately decided against it because of the summer heat.

The purchase reflects Rodrigo’s longtime admiration for The White Stripes and their influence on her musical interests.

For now, the historic dress remains part of Rodrigo’s personal collection, connecting a new generation of rock music with one of the genre’s most recognizable album covers.
